One Week into Our Florence Ryan Home Build

This is a blog that my wife and I will be doing to follow our journey of building our first home.

It's been one week since my wife Melissa and I have signed to start moving on our dream home build in Springboro, OH. We have decided on the Florence model (elevation B) situated on a cul-de-sac in the Greens of Bunnell Hill.

So far we have selected our interior options (except for doing a final selection of our flooring next Sunday and exterior colors). On top of the free morning room and finished basement we selected the luxury island for the kitchen, powder room in the basement, extra closet in the basement, 42" Maple espresso cabinets with crown molding, upgraded laminate counter top, stainless steel appliances (plus refrigerator), 5 ceiling fan rough-ins (3 bedrooms, living room, and morning room), fully upgraded master bath, battery backup for the sump-pump, carriage door for the garage, insulation for the garage, patio doors for the morning room, and deck. We also chose to do recessed lighting in the Loft, Kitchen and Basement. So in theory, we are nearly fully loaded. We are also going to add a wall between the utilities in the basement and the rest of the storage room and getting the storage room finished in order to make it a cat room.

  1. Welcome Welcome Welcome to the RH Family Blog Land! We visited a Florence model in Richmond and it has similar features of the Rome home we are building!
I love the idea of the cat room, how sweet!!!

  2. Thanks! After being in a two bedroom apartment with three cats for 3 years it was necessary that we find a special place just for them :)

    3. I would love to have been able to build a Ravenna but with all the extras and upgrades we decided on it was not in our budget. Not only that but it is HUGE! We don't have any kids and it is just us so the Ravenna would have been way too big for us.
